About the Knowlton Covered Bridge Park

Knowlton Covered Bridge Park view

The Knowlton Covered Bridge was 192 feet long making it the second largest covered bridge in Ohio. The Knowlton Covered Bridge was built in 1887. The Knowlton Covered Bridge was once known as the “Burr Arch Bridge”, the name reflected on the arch architecture inside the covered bridge. In 1995 the Knowlton Covered Bridge Park was listed on National Register of Historic Places, and renovated.

Covered bridges were also known as “Kissing Bridges”, because they have a history of courtship. Some people called and considered them “Wishing Bridges”.

TheKnowlton Covered Bridge Park is on SR26 in Washington Township near Rinards Mills, and would have a Graysville address. The park is open to campers year around, and does not require a reservation. The park features the Knowlton Covered Bridge in a scenic setting, a canoe launch, a pavilion, a playground, and two hiking trails.

It’s near by attractions include M and D Horses, Canoes, and Kayaks which is less then one mile north of the Knowlton Covered Bridge Park on SR26. Combining the two makes the Knowlton Covered Bridge Park a great weekend get away.
